In an Integrative Somatic Therapy session, we utilize a range of Body-Centered Therapeutic practices alongside Talk Therapy to ensure that your healing journey is gentle and self-paced allowing you to embrace difficult emotions rather than suppress or intellectualizing them thus, developing a heathier way of connecting and relating to self and others with Clarity and Openness, and Heart.

Integrative Somatic Therapy Practice (ISTP) allows you to connect to felt sense; deep intuitive experience of body sensations, emotions, movements, and energy. In our 1.5 hrs - 2 hrs. sessions, we start with deep breathing, sense into your body's movements to determined areas of tension held in the body. We use the wisdom of yoga to relax and ground the body, connect to your internal resources for deep emotional and physiological releases.

For the session, please wear socks or nylons and comfortable clothing so that you can stretch and move. We offer organic essential oil for mindfulness practice during the session. As this is optional, please let us know at beginning of the session if you are sensitive or allergic to essential oils.

Integrating Yoga and Bodywork is a safe and effective practice in help you recover from living with psychological or physical injuries and illnesses. This practice is an appropriate choice for those who need something gentle yet effective for bringing the body into balance and reducing stress. Therapeutic Yoga is a deeply meditative experience - it provides you with an opportunity to step away from the busyness of life and access the deeper wisdom that resides within you.

During the session, I assist you to access and release tensions held in tight muscles and the emotions associated with the tension. Hands-on healing is applied to areas of the body that feel stuck or tight so that energy can flow through various parts of the body that have remained stuck and frozen, sometimes for many years.

Flight, flight and/or freeze responses are released by restorative postures, deep breathing, and slow awareness of body movements. Emotions connected to the mobilized body tension begin to surface. You are supported to express whatever comes and to stay fully connected to these expressions for deep releases.

Mindfulness is used as a practice to support you to develop your own felt-wisdom and resources; integrating all that has happened in the session.

This can be in the form of coolness, heat, energy resistance (energy pushing the hand away), tingling, pulsations etc. This process of scanning enables me to go where the reiki (energy) is needed.

Trauma can become present in the body in a variety of ways; witnessing a violent or horrific event(s), car accidents, surgeries, serious sports injury(ies), being a soldier or civilian in war, being a first responder, being trafficked, as well as survivors of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. Integrative Somatic Therapy Practice (ISTP)™ addresses trauma that shows up in the body, causing ailments that appear to have no medical rationale.

(ISTP)™ will holistically guide you through your healing process to recover your “inner compass.” You become empowered by learning techniques such as relaxation using the wisdom of yoga, mindfulness, breathwork, bodywork, and Somatic body-oriented processing. Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Bim I was born in England and came to Canada over 40 years ago. I am the middle child of seven and blessed to have a big family. I consider myself an old soul with abundance of energy. I love spending time outdoors; nature is a healing remedy. Love many activities skiing, golfing, kayaking yoga/fitness just to name a few.

I did my primary education in England and then went on to do two years in high school before I came to Canada. Upon arrival I completed my high schooling in Vancouver. I have a background in the food, travel hospitality industry. Later in life went into the educational field. I attended Kwantlen University college in Richmond, BC. I took the SETA (special education teacher assistant) program and upon completion was hired by the Richmond school district. Part way in life I had decided to move to Ottawa to seek other opportunities and was hired by the Ottawa Carlton school board. I got a short placement at a high school (considered high beacon school due to high behavioural needs). I enjoyed this very much, however chances of getting permanent were slim at the time. I thus decided to attend Algonquin college in Ottawa and studied a program in Interactive Multi-media. Since I had not closed my doors in BC and came back and got hired by the Richmond board and have been with the district for 20 years. I presently work in a high school and specialize in working with students who have complex behavioural issues. I have recently retired from London Drugs Ltd as a service specialist, a company I worked for over 20 years. I recently became a certified yoga fitness instructor. I teach at two studios and love the vibe and energy the members bring. Healthy body healthy mind!

There is abundance of knowledge and learning still to be had. We should never stop learning. Helping others to find their true potential inside and out is greatly important to me.

I am an experienced educator and a passionate counsellor who believes in getting to know the clients and offering individualized support that best serves their needs with compassion and care. My counselling approach is trauma-informed and Person-centered. My experience and education in counselling have equipped me with a wide variety of skills, including integrative Somatic Therapy of breath work, relaxation postures, music, and mindfulness, as well as a specialization in Art Therapy. To build my repertoire of healing modalities, I have been blessed to work with a struggling youth, leading me to counselling. I continue to explore and heal in my journey because I believe I can only go as far as I have gone in my healing process to support my clients at a deeper level.
